A free converter that keeps edges sharp
SVG files describe shapes with maths, not pixels. This tool rasterises them, which means it draws the shapes onto a pixel grid at the size you choose. Because the drawing happens at the final size, the PNG is sharp instead of a blurry stretch of a small preview.
It is free, with no account, no watermark and no daily limit wall. The whole job runs in your browser, so no upload is required and nothing leaves your device.
Why convert SVG to PNG at all?
Many apps cannot open vectors. Social networks, chat apps, older Office versions and most upload forms want a raster picture. Exporting an SVG as PNG gives you a file that opens everywhere while keeping the clean edges of the original design.
Converting many files at once
Icon sets often come as dozens of files. You can convert multiple SVG to PNG in one batch: up to 30 files, with each result shown as it finishes and everything packed into one ZIP.
What is SVG, and how to open an SVG file
What is SVG? It is a text-based vector file: a list of lines, curves, colours and text that any size of screen can redraw. What is a vector file in practice? Logos, icons, charts and illustrations exported from design tools. The name stands for Scalable Vector Graphics.
Opening an SVG file on any device
Every modern browser can open an SVG file by itself. Photo viewers, chat apps and many upload forms cannot, which is the usual reason people change SVG to PNG.
A converter for more than PNG
This SVG file converter also writes JPG, WebP, AVIF and PDF, and the image converter lets you pick any of them. It works as a free SVG image converter with no sign up and no watermark on the result.
Custom size, up to 4K
Type any longest side you like. A 256 px export suits small icons, while a 4K output at 3840 px suits big screens and banners. Because the tool redraws the vector, you get SVG to PNG without losing quality at every size.
Keeping a transparent background
Most logos and icons are drawn without a background. PNG supports full transparency, so an SVG to PNG transparent export keeps the empty areas see-through. Put the result on any coloured slide or web page and only the shapes show.
Add a background colour instead
Sometimes you need a solid backdrop, for example a white square for a marketplace listing. Pick a fill and the PNG gets a background colour; white, black or any custom colour works.
Checking transparency
The preview shows transparent areas on a checkerboard. Zoom in up to 16 times to inspect antialiased edges around text and curves before you download.
Choosing the right size for high resolution output
An SVG has no fixed pixel size, so you decide it. Set the longest side and the other side follows the drawing's shape. For SVG to PNG high resolution work, the table gives common targets.
| Use | Longest side |
|---|---|
| App or favicon icon | 256–512 px |
| Website logo (retina) | 2× the displayed width |
| Social post | 1080 px |
| Slides and documents | 1920 px |
| 4K screen or large banner | 3840 px |
| A4 print at 300 DPI | 3508 px |
512 and 1024 px icons
For icons, 512 and 1024 px are the usual app-store and launcher sizes. Convert once at each size you need rather than resizing a small PNG up later.
Sizes for print
For SVG to PNG 300 DPI output on A4, set about 3508 px on the long side. If you prefer, set the print size and DPI with the resize tool afterwards.
Retina screens
Websites on high-density screens need twice the pixels. A logo shown at 200 px wide should be exported at 400 px or more.
SVG vs PNG: which one should you use?
SVG stands for Scalable Vector Graphics. It is perfect for logos and icons on websites because it scales to any size with no loss. PNG is a raster format: a fixed grid of pixels, compressed without loss.
| SVG | PNG | |
|---|---|---|
| Type | Vector | Raster |
| Scales without blur | Yes | No |
| Transparency | Yes | Yes |
| Photos | Poor | Good but large |
| Opens in every app | No | Yes |
Raster vs vector in plain words
A vector is a recipe; a raster is the finished cake. You can bake the recipe at any size, but once baked, the size is fixed. That is why you should choose the PNG size before converting.
Is PNG better than SVG?
For sharing, yes, because PNG opens everywhere. For editing and websites, keep the SVG as your master file. Turning PNG to SVG is a different job called tracing, and it is not done here.
Common uses: logos, icons, Cricut, Canva and slides
- Logos: send a transparent SVG logo to PNG for a printer, a client or a social profile.
- Icons: export an SVG icon to PNG at several launcher and toolbar sizes.
- Instagram: for SVG to PNG for Instagram, export at 1080 px, then add a fill if you do not want a black backdrop in some viewers.
- Canva and Cricut: some workflows prefer PNG when a vector will not import cleanly.
- PowerPoint and Word: older Office versions show PNG reliably.
Files from Figma and Illustrator
A Figma SVG or an Illustrator SVG converts well when fonts are outlined. Text that uses a font not installed on your device may fall back to a default face, so convert text to outlines before exporting.
Favicon from SVG
Need a browser tab icon? Convert here to PNG, then use PNG to ICO, which packs sizes from 16 to 256 px into one favicon file. A website logo works the same way.
Devices, privacy and troubleshooting
Because it is a web page, there is no app to install. It works as an SVG to PNG converter for PC and on phones.
- iPhone: open in Safari, pick the file from Files, then save or share.
- Android: use Chrome and the file picker.
- Windows and Mac: SVG to PNG on Windows and SVG to PNG on Mac both work by dragging files from the desktop.
Why does my SVG look blurry?
The PNG was probably exported too small and then stretched. Convert again with a bigger longest side. PNG is lossless, so the file itself adds no blur.
SVG fonts missing or images blank
SVGs that link to web fonts or outside images may not load them. Embed or outline them in your design tool first. Is it safe to convert SVG to PNG online here? Yes, the file is opened only in your browser.
Need a smaller file? Compress the PNG, or use SVG to JPG when transparency is not needed.
In the browser, on any computer
Nothing is installed, so SVG to PNG in browser form is instant for most files. Convert SVG images to PNG, then save SVG as PNG under the same name, ready for your website, a slide or a message. Turning a vector to PNG this way takes seconds.
