or drop them anywhere on this page · paste with Ctrl+V

Up to 30 images · 25.00 MB each · JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, GIF, AVIF

Stays on your device — nothing is uploaded

A GIF becomes a still picture of its first frame. You can still switch to any other format.

How to convert GIF to JPG

  1. Add your GIF files

Drag and drop, use the file picker or paste with Ctrl+V. You can add up to 30 files of 25 MB each.

  2. Pick a background colour

JPG has no transparency, so any see-through pixels in the GIF are filled. White is the default, and you can pick any colour.

  3. Set quality and size

Move the quality slider and, if you like, set a longest-side limit to keep the file small.

  4. Download the JPG

Save each file or use Download all as ZIP. Continue with another tool to crop, resize or compress.

A free GIF to JPG converter that runs in your browser

This GIF to JPG tool opens your GIF on your own device and saves a JPEG. Nothing is uploaded, so it is a GIF to JPG converter no upload is needed for, and nothing is stored anywhere.

You get GIF to JPG online free: no account, no sign up and no watermark on the result. It also works as a GIF to JPEG converter for old scans, clip art and web graphics saved years ago.

Why change GIF to JPG?

GIF is an old format limited to 256 colours per frame. Many upload forms, printing shops and photo apps ask for JPG instead. Converting gives you a normal still picture that opens and prints everywhere.

Convert multiple GIF to JPG together

Batch GIF to JPG handles up to 30 files at once. Each result shows its size before and after, failures can be retried, and Download all as ZIP keeps the set together.

Animated GIF to JPG: what happens to the animation

JPG holds one picture only. When you convert an animated GIF to JPG, the converter keeps the first frame as a still image. The rest of the animation is not included in the JPG.

Can JPG be animated?

No. Does JPG support animation in any form? It does not, which is why every GIF to still image converter has to choose a single frame. If you need the movement, keep the GIF, or compress the GIF with animation kept to make it lighter.

Using the first frame as a GIF thumbnail

The first frame makes a good GIF thumbnail or preview picture for a blog post, catalogue or document. Many GIFs are designed so that frame one shows the subject clearly.

Want a different frame?

This tool always takes the first frame. To extract a frame from GIF files at a later point, open the GIF in a player, pause on the moment you want and take a screenshot, then convert that.

Save a GIF as a picture in a few seconds

Most people who search for a way to save GIF as picture files just want something that behaves like a photo. This GIF to image converter does exactly that: the GIF first frame to JPG, with a background you choose, ready to share.

GIF to static image for documents and slides

Moving pictures distract in a report or a printed handout. A GIF to static image export sits quietly on the page and prints exactly as it looks on screen.

Convert GIF to photo files for albums

Old family scans and early digital camera pictures were sometimes saved as GIF. Convert GIF to photo JPGs so that phone galleries, print kiosks and photo books accept them without complaint.

GIF sticker to JPG

Chat stickers are usually small, transparent GIFs. A GIF sticker to JPG export on a white or coloured square turns one into a simple image you can drop into a document.

Other outputs from the same GIF converter

JPG is not the only option. The same GIF file converter writes PNG, WebP, AVIF and PDF. If you are thinking about GIF to MP4 for smoother video, that is a different job; this page focuses on still images.

It is GIF to JPG free in every sense: no sign up, no watermark and no limit wall. Converting GIF to image files here takes a few seconds, even on a phone.

Transparent GIFs and the background colour

Many GIF stickers and icons have see-through pixels. A JPG cannot store transparency, so those pixels need a solid colour. Converting a GIF transparent background to JPG with white is the default here.

No surprise black backgrounds

Some converters paint transparent areas black. Here you choose the fill, so a GIF to JPG white background result is what you get unless you pick something else.

Keep the transparency instead

If the see-through areas matter, use GIF to PNG. PNG keeps transparency and is lossless, which suits icons and logos.

GIF vs JPG: size, colours and quality

GIF and JPG solve different problems. GIF compresses flat colours without loss but only allows 256 colours per frame. JPG handles millions of colours and compresses photos with a small, controlled loss.

Why is my JPG bigger than the GIF?

A GIF of flat colours, like a logo or cartoon, compresses very well. JPG is built for photos, so on flat art it can come out larger. Lower the quality a little, or keep such files as PNG. For photos saved as GIF, the JPG is often smaller and looks better.

Banding and dithering

GIF photos often show banding or a speckled dithering pattern from the 256-colour limit. Converting to JPG does not add colours that were never there, but it stops the problem getting worse when you edit and save again.

Common uses: forms, social media and printing

  • GIF to JPG for form upload: exam and job portals often accept only JPG. Convert, then set an exact size with the resize tool's KB window.
  • GIF to JPG for Instagram: feed posts need a still image; export at 1080 px wide.
  • GIF to JPG for WhatsApp and GIF to JPG for email: a JPG shows as a normal photo instead of a looping clip.
  • GIF to JPG for printing: print shops expect JPG or PDF, not GIF.

GIF to JPG small size and KB limits

Need GIF to JPG 100KB or less? Lower the quality slider or the longest side. For an exact GIF to JPG in KB target, finish with Compress Image in exact-size mode.

GIF to JPG high resolution

Converting cannot add pixels. A small GIF stays small; for a bigger picture, try the upscaler after converting.

Devices, privacy and quality tips

There is no GIF to JPG converter app to install. The page works as a GIF to JPG converter for PC, Mac and phones.

  • GIF to JPG on iPhone: open in Safari, pick the GIF from Photos or Files, then save the JPG.
  • GIF to JPG on Android: use Chrome; options open in a bottom sheet.
  • GIF to JPG on Windows and GIF to JPG on Mac: drag files in from the desktop.

Getting the best GIF to JPG quality

For GIF to JPG without losing quality, keep the slider at 90 or above. The encoder is MozJPEG, which keeps files small at high quality. Hold B to compare with the original.

Is it safe to convert GIF to JPG online?

Here, yes. The file is decoded inside your browser and never sent anywhere. Files are recognised by their bytes, so a GIF with the wrong extension still converts. For other formats, the image converter handles any pair.
