A PNG to JPG converter that works in your browser

This PNG to JPG converter runs on your own device. Your pictures are never uploaded, so you can convert PNG to JPG online free even with private documents, ID scans or client work. It opens in any modern browser and there is nothing to install.

JPG is the format almost every website, app and form accepts. When a portal says "only JPG or JPEG allowed", a quick PNG to JPEG conversion solves it in seconds.

Free, with no sign-up and no watermark

There is no account, no daily limit wall and no logo stamped on your result. This PNG to JPG no watermark promise applies to every file, including batches.

Private by design

Is it safe to convert PNG to JPG online? Here it is, because the work happens in the browser tab. Close the tab and nothing remains anywhere else. That makes it a PNG to JPG without upload option for sensitive files, like a PNG signature to JPG for a bank or exam form.

PNG vs JPG: which format should you use?

Both formats are everywhere, but they solve different problems. PNG is lossless and supports transparency. JPG is lossy, has no transparency, and is built for photos. The table sums up the difference between PNG and JPG.

Is PNG better than JPG?

Neither wins in every case. Which is better, PNG or JPG, depends on the picture. For photos, JPG gives a far smaller file that looks the same to the eye. For a logo with sharp edges and transparent areas, PNG usually wins.

Lossless vs lossy in plain words

Lossless means the file stores the exact pixels. Lossy means the encoder throws away detail your eye is unlikely to miss, which is why JPG files are small. At high quality settings the loss is very hard to see.

Convert PNG to JPG without losing quality

JPG is always lossy, so strictly nothing is identical. In practice you can get PNG to JPG high quality output that looks the same as the original. We encode with MozJPEG, an encoder known for sharp results at small sizes.

Pick the right JPG quality setting

Keep the quality slider high for photos you will print or edit again. A middle value is plenty for sharing, email and web pages. Lower it only when a strict size limit matters more than fine detail.

Full size, or a longest-side limit

The converter keeps the original pixel size unless you set a longest-side limit. Set one, for example 1920 px, when you want smaller files for a website.

When JPG is the wrong choice

A text screenshot or other flat graphics can show soft, blotchy edges as JPG. If that happens, keep them as PNG or try converting PNG to WebP, which handles both photos and graphics well.

What happens to transparency when you convert PNG to JPG

JPG cannot store transparent pixels. Every transparent area has to become a solid colour. The converter lets you choose that fill colour, so transparent PNG to JPG conversion never gives you a surprise black box.

PNG to JPG with a white background

White is the default fill. It suits documents, product shots on white and most forms. A PNG logo to JPG with a white background is ready for letterheads and invoices.

Any background colour you like

Pick black, your brand colour or any background colour you need. A PNG to JPG black background works well for dark slides and video thumbnails.

Need to keep transparency?

Then JPG is not the right target. Stay with PNG, or use WebP, which keeps transparency and is smaller. If you want to cut a subject out first, remove the background and export a PNG.

Batch convert PNG to JPG and download a ZIP

Add up to 30 PNG files at once, each up to 25 MB. This bulk PNG to JPG mode converts them in the background and shows results as they finish, with the before and after size for each file and totals at the top.

  1. Drop a folder's worth of PNG images, or select several in the file picker.
  2. Choose one quality and one background colour for the whole batch.
  3. Download each JPG, or grab all of them together as a PNG to JPG ZIP.

Retry and continue

If a file fails, retry just that one. When the batch is done, use Continue with to open another tool, such as compress or resize, without adding the files again.

PNG to JPG in KB for exam and government forms

Indian exam and job portals often ask for a JPG photo or signature within a size window, such as 20–50 KB for an SSC photo or 10–20 KB for an SSC signature. Converting is only the first step, because the size limit still has to be met.

Convert first, then hit the KB target

Convert your PNG to JPG here, then open Resize image with exam and ID presets. Presets set the pixel size and the KB window together, so the file is accepted the first time.

PNG to JPG under 100KB or 50KB

For a general limit without pixel rules, use compress an image to an exact size in KB. It keeps quality as high as possible while landing under 100 KB, 50 KB or any number you type. This is the quickest route to a PNG to JPG under 50KB for a government form.

Convert PNG to JPG on iPhone, Android, Windows or Mac

The converter works the same everywhere because it runs in the browser. There is no app to install on a phone or laptop.

  • iPhone and iPad: open this page in Safari, choose from Photos or Files, then save the JPG or use Share. PNG to JPG on iPhone takes a few taps.
  • Android: open the page in Chrome, pick images from the gallery, and the JPG lands in Downloads. On mobile, options open in a bottom sheet.
  • Windows: drag PNG files from File Explorer, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V. It is a quick way to convert screenshot to JPG.
  • Mac: drag files from Finder or paste from the clipboard. PNG to JPG on Mac works in Safari, Chrome and Firefox.

Screenshots are usually PNG

Phones and computers save screenshots as PNG. When a chat or portal wants JPG, paste the screenshot here and download the JPG version.

Why is my JPG bigger than the PNG?

Usually a PNG photo turns into a much smaller JPG. But for flat graphics, such as a chart, a logo with few colours or a text screenshot, PNG compresses extremely well and a JPG can end up bigger. That is normal, not a fault.

What to do if the JPG grows

Lower the quality slider a little, or keep the file as PNG. If you only need a smaller file, compress the PNG instead of converting it. For a wider choice of output formats, open the image converter.

Files are checked by their bytes

Sometimes a file named .png is really a JPG or WebP inside. The converter reads the actual bytes, so it still converts correctly.
